Book a travel clinic appointment
Cholera is a bacterial infection of the gut spread through contaminated water and food, causing severe watery diarrhoea. The risk to most travellers is low, but rises for those working in outbreak areas or staying where clean water is hard to come by.
The vaccine
The vaccine is a drink, taken as two doses one to six weeks apart. It also gives some short-term protection against one common cause of travellers' diarrhoea.
When to have it
Complete the course at least a week before you travel.
Side effects
Mild stomach upset is possible and short-lived.
Your pharmacist will confirm at your consultation whether this vaccine is recommended for your trip.
